Do not Be Nervous – A Summary Helps
Tags: job, nervous, speech
You think that giving a speech in public is totally a torture. However, you have to bear that in some occasion. Lacking of confidence and speaking incoherently are the two major difficulties that you want to cope with.
To solve the problem, what you need is an outline that may remind you the topic of your speech. Even if you are too nervous to memorize the exact words that you prepared, you know what you should say in this and other sections.
Tip 1: write down all information that you may used in a speech
Consider no order or topic; just list all the information on notepapers, the more the better. It includes evidences, opinions, examples and etc.
Tip 2: read these notepapers
Read them again and classify them into different groups. Check every piece of information and think about the relativity between the information and the topic. Remove it if it does no contribution to your topic.
Tip 3: give an order
List the main points of your speech and assign information to the corresponding main point. Use simple words to summarize each piece of information and write them down after the main points.
Tip 4: give a title and end.
A title tells your audience what they can expect from your speech while you give a conclusion at the end, which is the echo to the title. For these two parts, I strongly recommend you to write two complete paragraphs.
Tip 5: use cards
For the first card, you write down the first essential point of your speech and the support evidences. One card for one point or you may get confused. I hope that you won’t take a suit of poker for your speech.
